The low temperature magnetic properties of TbFeO3 have been studied as a function of an applied field along the x and y crystallographic directions. Differential susceptibility measurements along the x axis performed at various temperatures lead to experimental phase diagrams of two types of samples which are distinguished by the presence or absence of an intermediate ferromagnetic phase before the final antiferromagnetic ordering around 3 K. A theoretical treatment taking into account a possible gradual rotation of the Fe system in the xOz plane, has been developped and gives a quantitative interpretation of the experimental results when previously determined values of the Fe-Tb and Tb-Tb interactions are used.
