The variation of the permeability in ferrites at microwave frequencies may be studied either as a function of applied magnetic field or as a function of internal field. These two points of view lead to the concept of « apparent » and « intrinsic » permeability, respectively, for which resonances occur at values of d. c. magnetic fields easily determined from the theory of Kittel. Previous experimental studies however, have not been in good agreement with the theory.
