A four-ligand rare-earth chelate with a sodium ion is described. It has been obtained with benzoylacetone and europium, terbium or lanthanum ions. The différent molecular and ionic transitions are studied by means of the spectra (absorption and emission) and of metastable state lifetimes. The possibility of obtaining stimulated emission from this terbium chelate is discussed by comparison with the characteristics of the europium chelate which allows laser action.On décrit un chélate de terre rare à quatre ligandes contenant un ion sodium.
