Single crystals of MoTe2 have been prepared by vapour-phase transport. The electrical resistivity p, the Hall effect R, the Seebeck coefficient α have been measured for temperatures ranging from 64 °K to 1 000 °K. These results are discussed in terms of a simplified band model where the density of states for electrons and holes are respectively 1.4 × 10^16 T3/2 cm-3 and 2.9 × 10^16 T3/2 cm-3 and the Hall mobility ratios about unity. The value of the energy gap deduced from optical absorption measurements, fits the one obtained from resistivity vs T plots quite well. This value, attributed to indirect transitions, is (1.020 ± 0.015) eV at 0 °K with a temperature coefficient of 5.4 × 10^-4 eV/°C.Des monocristaux de MoTe2 ont été préparés par ...
