A mechanical device giving a parallel displacement to one of the flats of a Fabry-Perot etalon, which is suspended in a flexible membrane, is described. This arrangement allows a spectral scanning which is linear in cm-1, during which the flats remain-parallel to a high degree of precision over one order of the etalon.
