This paper deals with observations of free drops of the hexagonal discotic mesophase of hexapentoxytriphenylene, and with their interpretation. The only stable disclinations in such a phase are wedge lines of strength 1/2 ; the molecular distribution follows the so-called « developable domain » model. Experiment and calculation show that the core is filled with ordered matter ; the measurement of the core radius leads to an estimation of the anisotropic boundary energy between grains of different orientations. In very thin samples the role of anchoring effects on glass and air is visible. Very rarely, one observes jogs of twist character on the disclinations.
