A general method has been developed for determining the developing magnetohydrodynamic flow in the entrance region of a parallel-plate channel. Closed form solutions are obtained. Numerical results are presented for the development of velocity distribution, pressure drop, and magnetohydrodynamic entrance length at different Hartmann numbers. At large Hartmann numbers, the magnetic field effect becomes dominant and the magnetohydrodynamic entrance length becomes negligible. Also, the pressure drop is enhanced by the magnetic field.
