Ayant comme point de départ la vivianite nous avons synthétisé le monohydrate Fe2+3(PO4)2(H2O), sous la forme de monosristaux. La structure aux rayons X montre trois sites différents pour l'ion Fe2+. Deux des sites sont des octaèdres distordus, le troisième est une pyramide tétragonale avec forte distorsion.
