A neutron diffraction study has shown that below 16.5 ± 1 K, TbBe 13 exhibits a spiral structure.. The spiral axis is along a 001 direction, the plane of the moments is the (001) plane, and the spiral step (angle between the magnetic moments of terbium atoms in next neighbour (001) planes) slightly less than π/3. Below 8.5 ± 0.5 K, the magnetic structure becomes commensurate with the lattice. It can be described by a distorted spiral structure whose mean step is strictly π/3.
