La spectrométrie Mössbauer et la diffraction des rayons X ont été utilisées pour caractériser les changements microstructuraux qui se produisent pendant le broyage de mélanges de poudres de fer et de Vanadium d'une part, de fer et de graphite d'autre part. Des hétérogénéités persistantes de compositions chimiques sont observées dans les deux cas.
