The magnetic properties of dilute alloys of transition-metal impurities (X = Cr, Mn, Fe, Co) in Cu are studied from superconducting T c measurements in Pb/CuX sandwiches which are obtained from electron gun evaporations in UHV. The conditions of preparations are discussed. In a first part, we study the normal state properties of the CuX films. The resistive behavior agrees with the characteristic Kondo behavior of bulk alloys and can be used to determine the impurity concentration in the films. The Tc measurements in relatively thick bilayers are not easily connected to the magnetic properties as the effect of the impurity mean free path tends to oppose the magnetic depairing one.
