One considers a plasma free of any external field, partially ionized, optically thick for the first transition starting from the fundamental level (resonance radiation for hydrogen and alkali atoms) and optically thin for all other transitions. Electron distribution function results from electron-electron collisions, inelastic electron impact on fundamental level and superelastic electron impact on resonance level. We obtain that the distribution is maxwellian for energies smaller than the first threshold ("body" of the function) but in general non maxwellian for higher energies ("tail" of the function).
