The spatial vectorial theory based on the resonance condition for representing an anisotropic laser, provides a method for measuring Faraday rotations. The Faraday rotation per path is compensated by means of a known, x-y-type loss anisotropy. The measured rotation of the eigenvector at one end of the laser is very large. We then define static and dynamic gains for the cavity. This method enables us to measure Faraday rotations in the infrared as small as 2 x 10-6 degree.
