The optical properties of LiF are dépendent on the divalent positive impurities, such as magnesium, present in the crystal. The magnesium increases the rate of F-centre formation and influences the bleaching of this centre. In some cases, we observed a Z band at 2 220 Å, and a band at 3 400 Å which could be due to a V center.
