Micrografting, an answer to the in vitro multiplication of Acacia senegal (L) Willd? To improve gum arabic production in Acacia senegal orchards, we attempted to propagate the most productive trees using apex and microcutting micrograftings with scions and explants from rootstock shoots. These procedures were satisfactory, since 23 and 60% successful grafts were obtained, reapectively, when the grafting was performed onto epicotyls of in vitro-raised, 3-week-old, dark-grown seedlings. Microscopic analysis of graft union structures explained in part these results.
