In order to control the laser heat treatment process, a theoretical method is proposed in this article to calculate rapidly the thermal field induced by a laser beam with the Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) technic and to determine the forms of the corresponding transformation hardened zones. The thermal model is based on several hypotheses which will be validated in the following discussion on comparing the theoretical results with experimental ones.
