Surface Electrochemistry is developing a breakthrough in the field of Surface Science of the metal/liquid interfaces due to the use of metal single crystal electrodes and techniques for preparation of clean metal/solution contacts. A general view of adsorption at well-defined metal electrodes is given with special emphasis to adsorption with charge transfer at Pt(h,k,l) electrodes. In-situ surface site characterization is presented. The substrate structure effect on the irreversible adsorption is discussed in connection with the UPD concepts
