Every dream is real. Pornography, humanoids and dolls in Eduardo Berliner's paintings : a chronotopical analysis

De aclimatação onírica, alegórica e fabular, argumentamos que a poética do artista será melhor discutida sob uma perspectiva transdisciplinar, já que se baseia em descontinuidades narrativas, deslocamentos visuais e referências difusas. Logo, serão variados os pensadores a que recorreremos. Nessa direção, os textos de Jean Baudrillard e Walter Benjamin destacam-se como instrumentos centrais de nossa pesquisa. Porque as interpretações que propõem amiúde superam estritas reflexões sobre a função poética ou sobre o processo criativo de um dado autor, em prol da captação de um espectro mais amplo e plural da cultura visual e do momento histórico. Por conseguinte, o filósofo francês e o pensador alemão ensinam-nos como tocar a medula ideológica contemporânea, e efetivamente escovar a História a contrapelo. Noutras palavras, interessa-nos também a interface entre alguns produtos e mídias massificadas, no século XXI, e os signos fantasmagóricos e as temáticas fragmentares da diegese de Eduardo Berliner. Apesar desse pendor à multiplicidade de vieses, defendemos aqui uma hipótese centrípeta, a saber: acreditamos que o humanoide e, por extensão, o ser humano artificial (a boneca, o robô, o autômato, o manequim, o fantoche, o espantalho etc) são os referentes centrais do sistema semântico, formal e narrativo da iconografia berlineriana. Reflexões a respeito da violência física e da escópica pornográfica e obscena nos serão necessárias, uma vez que tais bonecos recorrentemente se descrevem a partir da genitalização e da mutilação. Sem mais, nosso instrumento metodológico é o conceito bakhtiniano de cronotopo, bastante aplicável às artes visuais, conforme tentamos demonstrar. Além disso, a análise pictórica a partir de um eixo de condução temporal será recurso precioso para determinarmos sentidos e subgêneros de uma poética figurativa bastante evocadora da morte, da rotina, do tempo onírico e da ausência de devirAbstract: This work discusses the paintings and sculptures of Eduardo Berliner (Rio de Janeiro, 1978). Due to the oneiric, allegoric and fable-like aspect of his artworks, we will argue that they will be better understood through a transdisciplinary perspective, since they are based on discontinuous narratives, surrealistic visual displacements and plural references. We will make reference to several thinkers: Walter Benjamin¿s and Jean Baudrillard¿s writings will be found at the critical core of this dissertation because they often overcome mere reflections about the poetical process of an artist, in favor of a wide-ranging examination of visual culture and historical time. In this process, both philosophers teach us how to touch the contemporary ideological marrow, and effectively brush history against the grain. In other words, we are interested in the interface between mass media products in this century, and the phantasmatic signs (and the fragmentary subjects) of Berliner¿s diegesis. In spite of this multiple-bias analysis, we suggest here a centripetal hypothesis: we believe that the humanoid, and, by extension, the artificial human being ¿ the doll, the robot, the automaton, the dummy, the puppet, the scarecrow etc ¿ function as the leitmotiv of Berliner¿s semantic, narrative and formal iconographic system. Reflections about physical violence and pornographic scope will be also necessary, as these humanoids are frequently described in association with icons of genitals and mutilated bodies. In conclusion, our theoretical tool is the Bakhtin¿s concept of chronotrope, largely applicable to visual arts.
