A study of youth handball competitions of São Paulo State : characterization os competitive adaptations and coaches and referees opinions about their applications

Iniciamos com uma pesquisa documental sobre os regulamentos de competições de handebol de jovens realizadas no estado de São Paulo analisando as adaptações propostas em seus regulamentos cuja finalidade fosse ajustar as demandas competitivas às necessidades e possibilidades dos jovens atletas. Diante dos resultados oriundos desta etapa da pesquisa, pudemos conhecer melhor a perspectiva geral destas competições acerca de suas adaptações e, assim, levantar questionamentos sobre os reais motivos que justificam a inserção destas modificações competitivas, originando a segunda etapa de nosso estudo que foi realizada por meio de entrevistas junto a 10 treinadores e 5 árbitros atuantes nas competições cujos regulamentos foram anteriormente analisados. Um roteiro de entrevistas semiestruturada foi elaborado e sustentado em três blocos: 1) A gênese dos Regulamentos Adaptados; 2) Os objetivos da implantação de adaptações regulamentares e 3) A aplicação das adaptações regulamentares. Diante das respostas obtidas, verificamos que as alterações regulamentares analisadas eram percebidas como importantes segundo os entrevistados, os quais apontaram uma série de princípios pedagógicos relacionados com as adaptações analisadas. Verificamos, entretanto, que os treinadores, os principais responsáveis pela elaboração destas modificações, ao lidarem com estas adaptações no ambiente competitivo, promovem condutas transgressoras e de obtenção de vantagens diante do cenário competitivo adaptado, de modo que a orientação para a performance, ainda assim, se sobrepõe à orientação para a aprendizagem mesmo em competições modificadas para jovens atletas de handebol. Tais resultados levaram-nos a entender que as entidades promotoras destas competições devem assumir um papel ativo, por meio da promoção de espaços de formação continua e mediada aos treinadores envolvidos nestes ambientes, para que seus desejos expressos pelos regulamentos adaptados possam, de fato, ser respeitados durante o ato competitivoAbstract: This qualitative study was developed in two moments that together form the whole of our investigation. We began with a documental research on the regulations of youth handball competitions held in the state of São Paulo, analyzing proposed adaptations in their regulations whose purpose was to adjust the competitive demands to the needs and possibilities of the young athletes. In the face of the results coming from this stage of the research, we were able to get a better understanding of the general problems of these competitions and raise questions about the real motives that justify the insertion of these competitive modifications, originating the second stage of our study through interviews with 10 coaches and 5 referees active in the competitions whose regulations were previously analyzed. A semi-structured interview script was elaborated and sustained in three blocks: 1) The genesis of the Adapted Regulations; 2) The objectives of implementing regulatory adaptations and 3) The application of regulatory adaptations. Given the answers obtained, we verified that the regulatory changes analyzed were perceived as important according to the interviewees, who pointed out a series of pedagogical principles related to the adaptations analyzed. We find, however, that the coaches, the main responsible for the elaboration of these modifications, when applying such adaptations in the competitive environment, promote gamesmaship and cheating attitudes in the face of the modified competitive scenario, so that performance orientation nevertheless overlaps the orientation to learning in modified competitions for youth handball players. These results have led us to understand that the entities that promote these competitions must take an active role through the promotion of spaces of continuous and mediated education to the trainers involved in these environments, so that their wishes expressed by the adapted regulations can, in fact, be respected during the competitive actMestradoEducação Fisica e SociedadeMestre em Educação Físic
