Background: The most common cause of chronic dysphagia is stroke. Dysphagia can lead to malnutrition, feeding-tube dependence, aspiration pneumonia, social isolation and even death. Administration of swallowing therapy may improve swallowing and thereby reduce the risk of dysphagia but effect of electrical stimulation is still unclear.
