A fast pulse-amplitude discriminator is described which is a part of a time-of-flight fast neutron spectrometer. The resolving power of this discriminator is less than 0.3 nanosecond for 14 MeV neutrons. The formula giving the transit time in a threshold apparatus is derived by a direct method.
