A physical model based on the radiative transfer equation in the earth-atmosphere system was used to estimate hourly and daily global solar irradiance on a horizontal surface from measurements in the Meteosat-2 satellite visible band (0.4-1.1 $\mu$m). In this model we only account for the Rayleigh scattering, the ozone and water vapor absorptions. This model was used for two moroccan sites: Rabat and Marrakech.
