The number of students that conclude higher education in Brazil increased from 480 thousand in 2002 to more than one million in 2012. Analysis of public data collected from 2002 to 2012, reveals an overview of opportunities for these new professionals. Public data reflect a devaluation of skilled labor, with a decrease in the number of jobs with higher wages, and a deficit of more than 450 thousand jobs. This analysis appoints that the level of professionalism of workers cannot grow separately; and that the stimuli of vocational qualification must concurrently come to actions that allow the absorption of these professionals to the labor market, or to actions that stimulate the emergence of new labor markets. In this context, the importance and the participation of the university is unquestioned, so new mechanisms of interaction between university companies and government should be constantly reviewed and improved in order to enable economic and social development.2417919
