INTRODUCTION Cardiovascular disease is a known complication of radiotherapy for many types of cancer, including head and neck, breast, testicular and Hodgkins disease (1-4). Radiotherapy is a common treatment modality for these types of cancer and about half of the long-term survivors will have received radiotherapy. There is good evidence to identify radiation as an independent risk factor in human vascular disease, in addition to risk factors like hypercholesterolemia, age, diabetes, hypertension, smoking, lack of exercise and stress.
