Faults have a major affect on fluid movement in reservoirs. Insufficient data are usually available to fully describe faults in a reservoir. The uncertainty in fault location, orientation, throw transmissibility, etc, may be accounted for by Monte Carlo representations of the reservoir. Care must be taken to extrapolate correctly from the available data to the supposed real distributions of the fault parameters. As an example of the application of these techniques, an EOR by infill drilling project is used, and the choice of infill drill pattern is made to optimise recovery in the presence of faults
