In this paper we shall show how to compute collision cross-sections when the incident electrons have precisely the energy necessary to excite the atom from the ground state to the first excited level. The method can also be applied to the case of zero electron energy. Furthermore it is possible to evaluate numerically the behaviour of certain partial cross-sections in the neighbourhood of the first excitation threshold.
