We give a unified and simple treatment of the influence of electron scattering on the nuclear relaxation time T1, mean Knight shift K and inhomogeneous broadening of lines in some metals and disordered alloys in which the hyperfine coupling is the prevailing relaxation mechanism. We study the dispersion of the T1 and the possibility of revealing it. We show that in some disordered alloys AB, K and T1 depend only on the Knight shift and specific heat of their constituents A and B. The ideas introduced here permit understanding of the origin of the variation of K with the temperature T in the alkali metals.
