Floristic survey of a residual vegetation at Rubiao Junior, Botucatu, SP, southeastern Brasil

A floristic survey was made on two areas of secondary residual vegetation (forest and swamp), located at the Botanical Garden of the Instituto de Biociencias - Universidade Estadual Paulista, Botucatu-SP, southeastern Brazil. A total of 89 species, representing 78 genera and 37 families was found in the forest area In the swamp and the surrounding vegetation a total of 28 species, representing 27 genera and 14 families was found In the forest were recorded 61 species of trees and shrubs and 28 of herbs, lianas and epiphytas; in the swamp area were recorded 12 species of trees and shrubs and 16 of other habits. The studied areas were different in relation to floristic composition, probabily due to the occurrence of variation in topography, soil type and water availability among the two areas.38391792
