This paper addresses the problem of locating actuators and sensors for linear continuous-time systems in several contexts. Open-loop as well as closed-loop problems are discussed, Both state and output feedback are considered. In most cases, global optimal solutions are attained by solving mired Boolean semidefinite or linear programs. An algorithm which is able to find these global optima is provided. A numerical example illustrates the results.45122412241
