The use of rectangular and triangular basis functions in the method of moments to analyze the problem of scattering of electromagnetic waves by dielectric objects with high dielectric constant (epsilon(r) > 10) leads to convergence problems due to the spurious charges associated with the basis functions. To overcome this problem, solenoidal basis functions that eliminate the spurius charges generated by rectangular and triangular basis functions have been proposed. In this article we present results for the analysis of the scattering of TM waves by a chiral circular cylinder with the use of the method of moments and solenoidal basis functions.
