Experiments were conducted to investigate the removal (or complete elimination) of H(2)S from biogas streams by means of absorption and chemical reaction with a 0.4 M Fe/EDTA solution. Biogas was bubbled through a pseudo-catalytic solution of Fe/EDTA resulting in the formation of sulfur particles. Wide ranges of flow rates were tested for both the Fe/EDTA solution and the biogas, and the optimal ratio of liquid flow rate to gas flow rate for efficient removal of hydrogen sulfide from, biogas was found. Recirculation of the regenerated catalytic Fe/EDTA formed solution promoted the growth of previously-formed fur particles, which indicated that these particles might be easily separated from the catalytic solution.
