Les cylindres de forme prismatique peuvent être représentés par un assemblage de bandes rectilignes. A partir de la connaissance de la matrice de transition d'une bande élémentaire, la théorie de la diffusion multiple permet le calcul de la diffraction par un cylindre prismatique. On traite d'abord le cas d'un cylindre dont la frontière est fermée (cylindre à section carrée) et l'on compare les résultats à une résolution directe par équation intégrale de Helmholtz.
