La sonde à atomes à temps de vol a été employée pour étudier la ségrégation de surface d'alliage Fe-Ti. Le Ti subit une ségrégation vers la surface sous recuit à partir de 650°C. Le degré de ségrégation dépend de l'orientation cristallographique, il est de 100% sur les plans (110) et (111), 70 % sur le (100) et ≤ 50 % sur le (121). On trouve que la présence de H2(D2) pendant le recuit augmente la ségrégation de surface du titane et que l'oxygène décourage la ségrégation de Ti.
