Des simulations de dynamique moléculaire ont été réalisées sur une série de solutions contenant les ions Li+, Na+, K+, Ca++, Ni++ ou Cl-. Les potentiels ion-eau ont été obtenus par des calculs quantiques en utilisant la méthode du gradient récemment développée. Dans la plus grande partie des cas où des résultats expérimentaux existent, les calculs sont en accord raisonnable.
