The principle of operation, design and construction of a multi-channel photoelectric spectrometer using a Fabry-Perot etalon and an axicon is described in detail. The axicon maps the resolution intervals of the etalon from concentric rings of constant area in the focal plane of the objective into circular areas located at various points along the optic axis. The light is collected from these areas by rectilinear light guides which are optically coupled to flexible fiber bundles leading to individual photomultipliers. The number of channels is limited only by the available etalon finesse. The mean inclination of the order of interference is arbitrary ; the resolution intervals in the vicinity of normal incidence need not be used.Le principe ...
