The article reports on a study of the influence of the solidification rate in the structure of an aluminum silicon eutectic alloy. The alloy was solidified in a massive cylindrical mold and its structure, was analyzed by optical and scanning electron microscopy. Using a previously developed mathematical method, the curve representing solidification rate variations has been determined. Finally, the microstructures obtained in positions representing various solidification rates were compared to obtain a relationship between the microstructure and the solidification rate.4234990290
