We constructed and operated an unstable ring resonator dye laser. A good beam quality and a low divergence output beam was obtained. A travelling wave laser model was developed which fitted well the experimental results. Powers up to 160 kW were obtained when pumped by a 500 kW nitrogen laser. © 1980.322287290Siegman, (1974) Appl.
