Addition Compounds Between Lanthanide Bromides And N,n-dimethylacetamide

The reaction between hydrated lanthanide bromides and N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMA) was studied. Compounds of general formula LnBr3·5DMA (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, and Dy) and LnBr3·5DMA·3H2O (Ln = Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, and Y) were obtained. The i.r. spectra, the molar conductance of the compounds in DMA and nitromethane have been determined.
