The aims of this work are to show some experimental results on induced voltages and currents on telecommunications cables and to compare with the computer simulation method adopted. The experiment was performed at the triggering lightning site of Cachoeira Paulista (Brazil). At this location a network of two telecommunications cables was setup. In the network, several configurations including effects of the strand wire and shielding were tested. On the other hand, the simulation was carried out using a quasi-TEM, frequency-domain, multiconductor transmission line theory that includes arbitrary linear networks illuminated by plane-wave or located generators.
