Preeclampsia is a complex disorder specific to pregnancy, based on the interaction of numerous genetic factors, immunological and environmental factors. The main pathological findings in preeclampsia is insufficient remodeling of maternal spiral arteries due to defective trophoblastic invasion. The process of human placentation is very complex and still not well understood, despite being essential for reproductive success.
