ANALISIS STRUKTUR EKONOMI SERTA BASIS EKONOMI DI PROPINSI KALIMANTAN BARAT

ABSTRCT This article aims to analyze the shifting in economic structure and the identification of economic bases of West Kalimantan. The research method used in this research is descriptive. Data being used in this study come from the official publication of Statistic Centre Agency (BPS) of West Kalimantan like the constant price GDP of West Kalimantan Province and National GDP based on constant price for the period 1998-2008. The shift of economic structure is analyzed employing shift share analysis approach, while identification of economic bases is then assessed by using location quotient approach. The results of study show that the economic structure of West Kalimantan under period of investigation had been occurred positively in all sectors (primary, secondary, and service). Even, the service sector has grown remarkably mainly in sub-sectors of trade, hotels and restaurants, construction, services, transportation and communication. This shift in both economic structure and economic bases is very good for the economic development of West Kalimantan Province in general, because it will have positive impact for improving the welfare of society.
