This research applies a methodological approach, based on the functional analysis, to the study of domestic architecture on Crete during the Late Bronze Age (1600-1450 BC). This application is a tool with which Neopalatial architecture may be read, it shows the way of how the Minoans thought and organized their space. The range of buildings selected in this study belongs to the Neopalatial village of Kommos. Analysis of the houses are based on the use of instruments designed to detect the function of each room. The way spatial layouts were organized shows the existence of a private and a public area, in each area the rooms were separated by doors, stairs and corridors.
