TEACHING PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE TO THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS THROUGH WATCHING CARTOON MOVIES

The objective of this research was to find out that the use of cartoon movie could increase the ability of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sindue in constructing present continuous tense. The researcher applied quasi experimental research design that required post-test to both groups. The research population was the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sindue. The sample of this research was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The samples of this research were class VIIC as experimental class that consists of 23 students and class VIIA as control class that consists of 23 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used test. The tests were used as pre-test and post-test. Then the data were analyzed statistically. Having analyzed the data, the researcher found that the t-counted (3.04) was greater than t-table (2.01) by applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) 44. The result indicates that the use of cartoon movie is effective to increase the students’ ability in constructing present continuous tense.
