DEVELOPING WRITING SKILL OF THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS THROUGH RECOUNT TEXT

The purpose of this research was to find out that the use of recount text can develop the Writing Skill of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Parigi Selatan. This research applied a pre experimental research design involving one sample group only. The sample of this research was the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Parigi Selatan which consists of 23 students. They were selected by a cluster random sampling technique. The instrument of data collection was tests which were given to the research sample as pre-test and post-test. The data gathered were analyzed statistically. The result of the data shows that the t- counted value (14.63) was greater than the t- table value (2.080) by applying 0.05 level of significance. It means that the use of recount text can significantly develop the writing skill of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Parigi Selatan. Keywords: Recount Text; Writing Skill; Developing
