Actualmente, un gran número de estrellas enanas blancas variables pulsantes está siendo descubierto ya sea a partir de relevamientos basados en observaciones desde Tierra, tales como el Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), u observaciones desde el espacio (por ejemplo, la Misión Kepler). Las técnicas astrosismólogicas permiten inferir detalles de la estratificación química interna, la masa total, e incluso el perfil de rotación estelar.
