Sociability and territoriality: the build of the afro-descendants societies in the south of Santa Catarina (1903-1950)

This dissertation have as objective analyze the foundations of the recreational societies Cruz e Sousa and União Operária, built by afro-descendants in Laguna, Santa Catarina, in the post-Abolition period, that comprises the years of 1903 to 1950. This study pretends, by your time, apprehend aspects of the afro-descendants experiences, especially the spaces of sociability, in the south region of Santa Catarina. The analyzes sought evidence the organization of the recreational clubs, as well as their administration activities, seeking to comprehend the dynamic of these spaces of sociability. We also seek to understand the meanings for these two recreational societies were divided between subjects that identify themselves as blacks and others as mulattos. And, in this sense ours efforts also are concentrated in document the presence of the African‟s populations in the south of the state. Has become evident the importance of these places as strategic points to their visitors insert themselves in the society. In this sense we will try to perceive their collective and individual projects, their aspirations and expectations regarding the social climbing, visibility and respectability in the struggle for civil rights as dignityEsta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar as fundações das sociedades recreativas Cruz e Sousa e União Operária, construídas por afrodescendentes em Laguna, Santa Catarina, no período pós-Abolição e compreende os anos de 1903 a 1950. Tal estudo pretende, por sua vez, apreender aspectos das experiências de afrodescendentes, em especial, os espaços de sociabilidade, na região sul de Santa Catarina. As análises procuraram evidenciar a organização dos clubes recreativos, bem como as suas atividades administrativas, visando compreender a dinâmica desses espaços de sociabilidade. Também, procurou-se compreender o porquê dessas duas sociedades recreativas se dividirem entre sujeitos, que se identificavam como pretos e outros como mulatos. E, nesse sentido, os esforços também se concentraram em documentar a presença de populações de origem africana no sul do Estado. Tem se tornado evidente a importância desses lugares como pontos estratégicos para seus/suas frequentadores/as, inserirem-se na sociedade, nesse cenário tentaremos perceber seus projetos coletivos e individuais, suas aspirações e expectativas quanto à ascensão social e visibilidade e respeitabilidade na luta pela cidadania e dignidadeCoordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superio
