Edaphic diversity in areas of wetlands in Southern Brazil

The wetlands are prioritized ecosystems for conservation, because they have a rich biodiversity, present high productivity and provide many benefits to society. The preservation of these areas is very important for the maintenance of the waters resources. Aimed at knowing the edaphic diversity at wetlands areas of the plateau Catarinense and develop a proposal that helps on identification and delineation of wetlands areas. Thus, was done soils survey in eight areas including the cities of Bom Jardim da Serra, Bom Retiro, Campos Novos, Capão Alto, Lages (in the localities of de Morrinhos e Coxilha Rica), Painel e São José do Cerrito. For soil identification was made a small trench open with cut blade, with dimension of 30x30x30cm, from which other layers and horizons were observed with dutch auger for set the monoliths. In each wetland one transect was done with demarcation from three to six soil profiles, being at least one in the center of wetlands called internal area, one around and one in the external area. The chemical and physical properties of the soils were determined. In the sampled areas the non hydromorphic soils can t be differentiated from the hydromorphic ones just by the chemical characteristics, because there was no difference between the sampled areas. It could be noticed an increase in the percentage of organic matter in the hydromorphic soils when compared with the non-hydromorphic soils, attribute that directly influence on soil classification. The color of the soil was considered the most important property to differentiate the sampled soils, mainly because of the presence of mottled and gley horizons in the soils profile around and in the internal area of wetlands. The orders that predominate in the internal area and around the wetlands were the Gleysols followed by the Histosols, and in the external area of wetlands were the Cambisols and Neosols. The better drainage and the presence of brightest colors in the B horizons of the Cambisols are indicative that the soil is out of the wetlands limitOs banhados são ecossistemas prioritários para a conservação, pois possuem uma rica biodiversidade, alta produtividade e oferecem diversos benefícios a sociedade. A preservação destas áreas é importante para manter os recursos hídricos. Objetivou-se conhecer a diversidade edáfica em áreas de banhados no Planalto Catarinense e elaborar uma proposta que auxilie na identificação e delimitação. Realizou-se o levantamento de solos, em oito áreas caracterizadas como banhados, abrangendo municípios de Bom Jardim da Serra, Bom Retiro, Campos Novos, Capão Alto, Lages, Painel e São José do Cerrito. Em cada banhado foi efetuada uma transecção linear, com demarcação de três a oito perfis de solo, sendo pelo menos um no centro dos banhados denominado de área interna, um no entorno e um na área externa. Para a identificação dos solos foram abertas 44 trincheiras com pá de corte até 30 cm de profundidade, a partir da qual as demais camadas ou horizontes foram observados por tradagem para compor os monólitos. Para realizar a classificação dos mesmos, foram determinados os atributos físicos e químicos do solo. Nas áreas amostradas, os solos não hidromórficos não podem ser diferenciados dos hidromórficos somente por características químicas. Observou-se um aumento no teor de matéria orgânica nas áreas de solos hidromórficos quando comparados ás áreas de solos não hidromórficos, atributo que influencia diretamente na classificação dos solos. A cor do solo foi considerada o atributo mais importante para diferenciar os solos amostrados, devido principalmente a presença de mosqueados e horizontes gleizados no perfil dos solos no entorno e na área interna dos banhados. Os solos predominantes nas áreas internas e nas transições dos banhados foram os Gleissolos e os Organossolos, e na área externa foram os Cambissolos e os Neossolos. A maior drenagem e a presença de cores ligeiramente mais vivas nos horizontes B dos Cambissolos são indicadoras de que o solo encontra-se fora dos limites do banhadoConselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológic
