Water erosion in three forms of seedling of oat and vetch in a inceptisol: nutrients and carbon organic losses

The inappropriate use and management of soil increase water erosion, causing pollution of surface water and silting of rivers and lakes out of the place of erosion and depletion of soil at its site of origin. To evaluate the loss of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium soluble in water runoff and the loss of phosphorus, potassium and organic carbon in sediments of the runoff, was performed an experiment under simulated rain, in a Inceptisol, with average slope 0,119 m m-1, in Lages, SC, in the period of April to November 2006. Tests of rain, with constant intensity of 64 mm h-1 lasting one hour were applied in four periods during the cycle of the cultures of oat (Avena strigosa) and common vetch (Vicia sativa) and one period in the residue of these cultures in three forms of sowing of cultures under conventional tillage: i) mechanized seedling of oats in lines towards hillslope (OP); ii) handle seedling of oats by throwing, with seeds embedded manually with chisel (OH); iii) mechanized seedling of oats in contour lines on the slope (OC); iv) mechanized seedling of vetch in lines towards hillslope (VP); v) handle seedling by throwing of vetch, with seeds embedded manually with chisel (VH); and vi) mechanized seedling of vetch in contour lines in the slope (VC). The oat culture was more effective in controlling the loss of soil, while the hillslope seeded vetch had the greatest losses. The volume of runoff was higher at sowing in hillslope and the type of the culture little affected this variable. The application of urea in oats, just before the rain, raised the levels of N-NH4 in water runoff, exceeding the tolerance of the aquatic community. In the test on the cultural residues, the levels of N-NH4, N-NO3 and soluble K in water runoff and P and K in the sediments increased when compared to the former test in the cycle of cultures. The sowing in contour increased the levels of N-NO3 in water runoff and P and K in the sediments, for the sowing towards hillslope. The levels of CO in sediments were little affected by the treatments and tests of rain. Losses of N, P and K in water runoff were higher at sowing towards hillslope, where the oat culture lost more N and the vetch culture more K, while the losses of P, K and CO in the sediments were higher in the vetch culture. Com o objetivo de avaliar as perdas de nitrogênio, fósforo e potássio solúveis na água de enxurrada e de fósforo, potássio e carbono orgânico nos sedimentos de enxurrada, conduziu-se um experimento sob chuva simulada, num Cambissolo Húmico alumínico léptico, com declividade média de 0,119 m m-1, em Lages, SC, no período de abril a novembro de 2006. Testes de chuva, com intensidade constante de 64 mm h-1 e duração de uma hora foram aplicados em quatro épocas durante o ciclo das culturas de aveia preta (Avena strigosa) e ervilhaca comum (Vicia sativa) e uma época sobre os resíduos culturais das mesmas, em três formas de semeadura das culturas sob preparo convencional: semeadura mecanizada de aveia em linhas no sentido morro abaixo (AP); semeadura manual de aveia a lanço, sendo as sementes incorporadas manualmente com rastelo (AL); semeadura mecanizada de aveia em linhas em contorno no declive (AC); semeadura mecanizada de ervilhaca em linhas no sentido morro abaixo (EP); semeadura manual de ervilhaca a lanço, sendo as sementes incorporadas manualmente com rastelo (EL); e semeadura mecanizada de ervilhaca em linhas em contorno no declive (EC). A aveia foi mais eficiente no controle das perdas de solo, enquanto que a ervilhaca morro abaixo teve as maiores perdas. O volume de enxurrada foi maior na semeadura morro abaixo e o tipo de cultura pouco afetou esta variável. A aplicação de uréia na aveia, imediatamente antes da chuva, elevou os teores de N-NH4 na água de enxurrada, ultrapassando a tolerância para a comunidade aquática. No teste sobre os resíduos culturais, os teores de N-NH4, N-NO3 e K solúveis na água de enxurrada e de P e K nos sedimentos aumentaram em relação ao teste anterior no ciclo das culturas. A semeadura em contorno aumentou os teores de N-NO3 na água de enxurrada e de P e K nos sedimentos, em relação à semeadura morro abaixo. Os teores de CO nos sedimentos foram pouco afetados pelos tratamentos e testes de chuva. As perdas de N, P e K na água de enxurrada foram maiores na semeadura morro abaixo, onde a ervilhaca perdeu mais N e a aveia mais K, enquanto as perdas de P, K e CO nos sedimentos foram maiores na ervilhaca.
