Abstract

The magneto-optical traps cool and trap atoms in a given region, forming clouds of cold atoms. As the setting of the trap, clouds can be obtained in different geometries such as spherical or ring-shaped. Traps have a wide range of applications, such as building atomic clocks, to obtain the Bose-Einstein condensate and the study of collisions, wherein the ring geometry is interesting to study in low dimensions.
