This work examines the effects of solution heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of A356 aluminum alloy. Tensile bars were molten to tensile tests and solution treatment in several conditions of time and temperature were performed. The A356 alloy with different weight percentage of magnesium and with its respective as-casting specimens were also analysed to evaluate the heat treatment. To evaluate the results tensile tests, alloy hardness and matrix microhardness, and metallographic analysis and fractographs were performed.
